Hi,

My Pentair 120v 5g Intellibrite 300w is failing (very dim) and I am thinking instead of replacing the board with the original board (619875Z) I might as well upgrade to the Penyair color board (619818z) or even after market by Florida Sunseeker, hopefully for longer life than the Pentair boards. I think it should be ok since everything is on the board, except for the power source connected to the board coming from the sealed transformer. So I just disconnect the board and put in any other 120v 5g board and it should be good. I just want to ask if I miss anything, electrically and physically? Below are my original board (619875Z) and the color board (619818Z). Thx

Actually, why are all the leds dim, not just a few. I hope it’s not the transformer. I remember getting Different voltage at each of the 2 power cable, 19 and 8 ACV. What voltage does the board suppose to get?

You could swap the all-dim board into the other housing and see if it's still dim.

Is your transformer integrated into the lamp housing, or is it a separate unit? In either case, all these light boards run on 12vac like Allen said... if yours are dim it's either the transformer is bad (not putting out 12v or can't supply enough current) or the on-board led driver circuitry is bad and the board is basically toast.

Thank you both for your reply. It’s extremely difficult to mount the other light due to the bd improperly installed the niche so I don’t really want to touch that, lol...

Mine is 120V so the transformer is within the housing, behind the board.

So am I supposed to get 12v between each of the power wires to ground? Or 6v from each? There are 2 power wires so I am not sure how they designed the board. Can’t see the connection behind the board.

Does all led being dimmed indicate any thing specifically? or it still can be either the transformer or the board? And for getting different voltage (neither one is 12V)from each wire to the ground mean the transformer isn’t working as supposed to?

Thank You

12 V should be between the two power wires that connect to the board, not from a power wire to ground.

Great news thx. I’ll go check again.

...yup, got 13.6v. Now would be there a problem if I upgrade to the color board? Haven’t read anyone done this so I just want to make sure.

thx

just to update: I talked to 2 vendors and both said it should be ok. Called Pentair and they recommend replacing the whole light. I asked why and they said the board only come with 6 mos warranty Instead of 1 yr. So I got the Florida Sunseeker 619818z after market led replacemen. Installation was straight forward. Let it sit in the water for 24hr to make sure no leak before actually mount on the niche. Will see if it outlast Pentair’s board.
Thx everyone for your help.
