Union Nut Replacement?

Hey TFP, I've got a cracked union nut on the outflow from my filter and it's leaking water. I think I've got the right replacement nut, but I'm curious about when I unscrew the cracked one, will the PVC pipe going from the filter to the diverter valve come out so I can replace the nut or is it typically permanently connected with pvc cement? Don't want to get in over my head, but otherwise seems like a quick fix. Pics here to help show it, thanks!

The latter...it's cemented and the only way to install the new nut is to cut the pipe so you install the new nut or use a split nut like the one linked by @JamesW. You'll need to find the correct one for your filter as the thread are usually proprietary. If you can't find the correct fitting, you'll need to do some repair work...

You don't have enough room to fit a coupler between the valve and filter union. You can use a Magic Mend repair fitting that slips inside of your existing PVC pipe. Cut the PVC pipe, remove old nut, install new nut, then slip the fitting below into each pipe. You'll need primer and PVC cement...

Look at your OLD coupler and there should be some 900 numbers on the old one.

Fits Aquapure Chlorinators.
Thanks @JamesW - it looks like that would work well, but unfortunately, they're out of stock. I'm asking if they have more coming in, appreciate the insights!

Thanks @Rancho Cost-a-Lotta - I think that gave me some helpful info that I can use to fix this, appreciate that!

Here's some more information that may help you. Both the diverter valve and union will accept a fitting of one larger size on the outside of the socket. I'm not sure if this will help you out on this repair, but it's good information to keep in the back of your mind. See the connection to the valve on the left side. 1000007818.png
Look up Magic Mend fittings. There are several different types that may help now or in the future. Most common are there inside slip fittings and pipe extenders.
