Unfamiliar Skimmer design

I came across a pool built by a pool builder who's work I had not seen before. This pool builder uses a skimmer design that I don't understand. This is a gunite pool that was just completed. The skimmers are taller than what I'm used to seeing with typical Hayward or Pentair skimmers. The baskets are very long, and are lined with a bag to catch fine debris. The part that is really unfamiliar is how they are plumbed. At the bottom of the skimmer are 3 ports. One on the front wall that goes to the pool as an equalizer, one in the bottom that is the suction line to the pump, and a third in the back that is some sort of a jet pushing water into the skimmer. The jet assembly in the back of the skimmer body sticks out and obscures the suction port such that you can't connect to it with a vac hose.

Does anyone know what the purpose of this design is? I'm concerned about how it will need to be winterized. Everything looks glued in, and can't be removed. The jet assembly sits directly over the suction port. There is no way to get a plug in it.

TF,

I live in Texas, so the only thing I know how to close is a door..

Might try the manufacturer. A couple of different companies make them so not sure which one you have.

The return water that flows through the skimmer usually has a valve at the equipment pad. Usually labeled as Quick skim or deck skim.

Once the water is off, I would assume it is like any other skimmer, but again, my pool is open 24/7.

Sorry,

Jim R.
