Hello All,

I tested my water and my pH is 7.4 and Total Alkalinity is 100. Pool math recommends adding 4 lbs of Borax to increase the pH to 7.6. But it also recommends lowering the pH to 7.0-7.2 to reduce the Total Alkalinity.

Seems contradictory or I am misunderstanding?

Thanks,

Eldon

Your pH and TA are fine. Leave them alone.

Keep your pH in the 7's and add acid when it gets to 8 and your TA will drop over time.

Pool math is only a calculator, not a set of guidelines. The targets can be edited and initial values are just set to the middle of the recommended range.
