Under Construction - Tomball, TX

For those following along, today was supposed to be clean up day and tomorrow plaster day. They finally got rid of my mosquito farm this morning.

And then they went ahead and did the plaster as well.

All very exciting! But.... any sharp eyed followers of this thread see a problem?

I thought about asking them what color they were using but then just forgot about it. Luckily it wasn't really the PB's fault. The plaster company screwed up and switched two jobs. There coming back out to take it all out and start over with the right plaster. If it was the PB fault I might have more of a fight on my hands. I may still. We'll see. But PB apologized and said he'd make it right.

Spool, I came to the same conclusion. Looks like satin matrix cool blue. I do blame the PB to some extent. I feel he should have been here to oversee what was going on.

I wonder how they take it out? Did they already use YOUR stuff on that other pool? Will they be taking it out also? If I were the other people I would be thrilled with the extra bling.

Your PB should have been there for at least to make sure the right stuff was being used. That IS his job!

Oh wow!

He shoulda been there, but it's great to hear he's gonna fix it without a fight. Great news, and you can't fault him from there. Bet he shows on plaster day this time. They will chip it out Kim and start from scratch all over again. Assuming they do it right. Bet they will. Sorry to hear that Travis!

I agree. PB should have been there to oversee the process. I fault him for that. And yes, I'm told they chip it out and that it doesn't ruin the gunnite. Guessing it's a long process. We'll see. And yes, someone got a heck of an upgrade for nothing.

Well YOU should get something for the heart attack! So how did you know? Did you notice right away or did it take some looking? "Hey were is my sparkle?"

Do you have a time line? To me they should have been at your pool at first light working!

Oh my! There is a huge difference in satin matrix and prism matrix. I know because I can't afford the prism!!! It's amazingly beautiful. What are you getting for having to deal with this?!

I would be thrilled as pigs in **** if I was the other people though!! Lol

They are at my house as we speak chipping it out with electric chisels. I was watching them and noticed that they had chipped everything around the waterline and fittings. Then seemed to stop. My first pool build years ago in my other house they had to replaster. I watched them do the same thing. The problem with this method is that the new plaster will be flush with the waterline tile down to about six inches but then the plaster will sit proud of the waterline tile because they plaster over the remaining plaster. In addition it causes main drains and fittings to seem like they're sitting in "bowls." I texted my PB that this was unacceptable. 5 min later I got a call from the plaster company. They apologized for the screw up and said that's normally how they replaster a pool. I said yes, normally that's how you replaster an old pool. Not a new one where you screwed up. What would I do when the time comes to replaster from age? Apply a 3rd layer of plaster? No, I'd then have to pay to have it all chipped out. Bottom line, told him not acceptable and I wanted it ALL removed. And they're now removing it all. And in the process covering my patio once again in a layer of dust. My PB told me I was being unreasonable. Guess what I told him?

And yes, the other people got a nice free upgrade which the plaster people told me they were VERY happy with.

Kim, it took me a while to figure it out. I just kept thinking that when they were done it would look right, that what I was seeing was just part of the process. It was right after they left that I looked closely and realized it wasn't correct.

BTW, it took them about 5 hours to plaster the pool. They told me it will take at least 2 full days to get it out.

Can we see pictures of their pool?

Too soon?

I'm glad they are stripping it all out. You want a blank slate for sure.
I think it will be really obvious they have the right stuff next time cause the plaster around the pebble is blue on the prism matrix you selected isn't it?
Hope they have you on the front of the queue for plaster once this old rubbish is outta there.

Look forward to the real deal.
