Hi all,

I am trying to replace my 10+ year old 500W bulb with a more efficient LED light.
The light is a Pentair Amerilite 120V (P/N 78456300).

I tried to remove the glass lens, but it looks like it's stuck on the case. This light has not been serviced since 2013.
I tried to put a flat screwdriver between the gasket and the glass, with no success. I am afraid that if I push harder, the glass might break.

How can I remove the glass without breaking it?

A larger flat-blade screwdriver wedged between the gasket and faceplate will break the seal with the gasket. That glass is very strong. Just go slow so as not to deform the faceplate. If it is stuck in the housing, the same applies.
Just peel the old gasket from the lens and sure to get a new one. The silicone ones that are available are best and don't, usually, cost much if any more that that white OEM gasket. Pentair actually makes a silicone gasket for that light, but they have been a little hard to get.
