Umbrella stays in sun shelf

Hi all,

Can an umbrella be placed in a sun shelf umbrella sleeve and kept there for a long time? Do most people just leave it in there or remove it and place it there when they're using the pool?

I always remove an umbrella when it’s not in use. Even if you close it, it can still be popped open by a gust of wind. Even if you bungee it closed, dirt and grit can accumulate around the base and make it impossible to remove. Ones left in water are worse. Umbrella shafts are commonly made of steel, aluminum or wood. None are appropriate for extended emersion in pool water. When not in use, umbrellas should be taken down and stored.

Agree with Chief. I always remove mine and I always put the screw lid thingy back on it. Sometimes I need pliers to get it to unscrew all of the way.
