I have an ultra fine white powder in the pool that my pentair clean and clear can’t seem to catch. Is there any sort of ultra fine mesh material I can use in the baskets or returns? A clarifier didn’t help either.
Thanks for the info. Still new here and to pool ownership. I do not have away to back wash. I was told my levels were good minus my cya 100. I have purchased a testing kit to try and get a more accurate measurement. Also be advised clarifiers tend to lead to more problems with filtration unless you have a way to backwash the clarifier out to waste to prevent it from getting to the filter media. I'm assuming you have no such method correct?
That is good. Sounds like there may be some learning curves, and that's okay. We'll be glad to help. It really starts to spend some time with that Pool Care Basics page. You'll be surprised how much you learn there that contradicts what you might hear from a local pool shop. Once you update your signature it will also help those of us who reply to all of your posts. Ok I have updated. So there is nothing I can do to pick up the fine stuff? That is good. Sounds like there may be some learning curves, and that's okay. We'll be glad to help. It's very possible what you are seeing is residual product from algae and/or the clarifier. Unfortunately, most of us with cartridge filters do not have a backwash valve, so products like clarifiers and floc are generally not a good idea to use. For now, update your signature and be sure to use liquid chlorine to maintain a strong FC level of at least 5 ppm. Even higher won't hurt because your CYA appears to be much too high. A CYA over 100 is never recommended because it requires a much higher FC level to compensate. Just take a look at our FC/CYA Levels to see what I mean.
But no guesswork at this point. Hopefully you ordered a TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit. Once you receive your kit, add that to your signature as well and post a full set of water results and we'll walk you through the steps to do next.
Just vacuum. Do you have a manual vacuum or robot to get in those areas? So there is nothing I can do to pick up the fine stuff?
Once you update your signature
