Ugh!! Motor stopped and pool froze

Went to bed last night, pool pump had been running 24/7 (has freeze sensor), water was fine. Woke up this morning and pool has a thin layer of ice. Pump won't turn on, ice present in the filter basket, so I know the water in the lines is frozen, or at least starting to freeze (it is 7 degrees this morning).

Since, I can't get pump restarted, assuming there is ice already in the lines, am I better:
1. Trying to thaw the lines (maybe hair dryer) and try to get the pump running before it freezes too much more (its probably been in 10 degree or colder weather for several hours now)
2. Drain whatever water I can from the pump, filter and whatever else I can, wait for the freeze to end and hope that none of the equipment is gets damaged

Any thoughts on which approach to take?

Thanks!

Gonzo
