Hi ,
I adding 2 bags of Power Powder Plus 73 on Wednesday evening, the pool turned green overnight. I went to the pool store to test the water. The water is perfect. The guy told me to add another bag of Power Powder Plus 73 and run the filter 24 hours. I added another bag on Thursday evening and the water turned more green. This Friday morning the water is almost black ! Whats is going on ?

Can you post a picture of the water, please?

How are you testing your water?

Welcome to the forum.
As you live in the San Francisco Bay area, you received quite a bit of rain this winter. Did you maintain the pool (chlorine, CYA, etc) during this time? What have you done since?
You need to follow the SLAM Process. To do that, you need a proper test kit. I suggest the TF-100 or Taylor K2006C. A proper test kit is needed to get the accurate water chemistry results needed to follow the TFP protocols.

While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
