Tune up tips for pump’s centrifugal switch?

I bought a used Hayward 1 speed 1 hp pump and when I first started using it I thought it was bad. But after a few dozen days/cycles and tapping the switch with a screw driver, with power off, the switch has worked reliably for weeks now . I assume now that it was oxidized and I wore it down enough for it to work again.

With winter coming I wonder if I can prevent oxidation from returning by spraying a lubricant on the switch contacts and springs periodically.

Thanks in advance!

I would just periodically clean the contacts. You can use an electronic cleaner but I would not use a lubricant on the contacts as it will leave a residue that could make things worse. You can lube the governor hinges but try to keep it away from the contacts.
