Woke up this morning after a very heavy rain, to a tub of mud? Not sure how it got there?

Latest Test Results:
FC: 7.5 (2 days ago)
CC: 0.0 (2 days ago)
pH: 7.6 (1 day ago)
TA: 55 (1 day ago)
CH: 150 (2 days ago)
CYA: 70 (2 days ago)
SALT: 3400 (1 day ago)

Will get updated numbers later this morning.

We’ve had a lot of heavy rain this season, this is the first time I’ve seen this. I’m wondering how it happened? Something must have failed, yea?
Is this a SLAM situation? My initial reaction is to drain to waste, to get the water at the right level, then turn up the SWG just in case. But wondering if this means a trip to Ace for jugs?

I don’t see any streams of water/mud that flowed across your deck and into the pool so doubt it’s just mud. I’d think two options, 1 being most likely.

1. SLAM (happened to me recently, TFP clear pool, left for 2 days and came back to algae 🤷‍♂️)
2. There’s a hole/crack somewhere that’s allowing mud/debris/etc to get in (hopefully this isn’t it)

Me either, unless there was only so much mud to be washed in and the subsequent rain cleaned the deck. 🤷‍♂️

It definitely looks like mud after draining some water, see pics of steps and ladders. Test results have 0 CCs, and also a jacked up FC because I turned up the SWG and threw in some shock to jump start any need to possibly SLAM.

Latest Test Result Summary:
FC: 14.0 (14 minutes ago)
CC: 0.0 (14 minutes ago)
pH: 8.0 (14 minutes ago)
TA: 55 (14 minutes ago)
CH: 150 (14 minutes ago)
CYA: 60 (14 minutes ago)
SALT: 3130 (14 minutes ago)

That ladder does look like mud. 🤷‍♂️ Do you see any existence of residue where mud would overflow from the rain into the pool across your deck?

May want to run an OCLT tonight just to be sure.

Hope your filter is ready to pull some serious overtime.

I'm sorry to see that - it looks like the silt-y runoff that I get in my pool in a heavy rainstorm (I would regrade the land but my neighbor would need to get on board with that..). I slam it until it clears the SLAM criteria and run the pump 24/7 to circulate the water to kill and filter anything that's in the pool. Start the SLAM as soon as possible. You'll be surprised at how quickly it will clean up, though it will take a bit longer to get back to TFP crystal-clearness.

I brush the larger/heavier goop to the deep end and then vacuum it to waste until the water level gets where it needs to be and then just use the filter.

Thanks all, that’s the plan right now. SLAM and vacuum, SLAM and vacuum. Surprised that this was the first time seeing this, seeing all the rain we’ve had. Maybe earth has reached its saturation limit.

There is accumulated dirt/debris by our drainage grate, I’m thinking as the storm let up it also washed away some of the “trail”, like Newdude suggested.

😣 so close! Pretty sure this verifies what happened previously, seeing the standing water along the basketball hoop and corner with the hoses. Curious though, has something changed that would be causing the rain to flow into the pool now that wasn’t before?

IMG_2262.jpegThere was a nice rock based drainage ditch surrounding the deck, but was only a few inches wide. We didn’t get to our fall upkeep work in time, and it became overgrown. Will have to be much more careful with it once we reestablish it. You can see it in this old pic, albeit a bit overgrown.

If you have time with the weekend here to manual vac I’d do that until you can confirm how thick the mud is on the bottom that the robot will be sweeping up. With that being said, does your robot have a 2 hour cycle? Maybe run it for a quarter or half cycle and check its filter to see how “mudded” up it might be. If not too bad, may be ok to use all the time.

Yea, it’s one of the newer Wybots, and it has options that can do that. Great little vacuum, would hate to stress it too much. I plan on really getting into the cleaning this weekend. The pump is off for the night to let as much settle as possible. I’m going to vacuum as much as possible tomorrow and Sunday.

Finally getting somewhere, but ripping out all that, now rock sod, is way more difficult than expected. All the roots just tie knots around all the little rocks, it’s rough! No good pic right now, but I only got about 7 linear feet and my hands are now a sore mess!

The pool is much easier than the landscaping, slow going, but getting better!

Still maintaining SLAM levels of chlorine

FC: 22.5 - added a couple more bags of shock this morning
CC: 0 still

I can see the improvement, looking better. Stay at it! Are you still manually vacuuming or have you given the Wybot a chance?
