Trying to pick out a pool

We were looking at the L shaped 18x36x26 vinyl lined in ground pools from pool warehouse but our yard slopes about 4 ft over the 18ft width of the pool.
Is it possible to install one side all the way I ground and leave the other completely out of the ground. I know I’d have to do the concrete collar but does it need backfilled all the way?

Thanks in advance, we’ve been researching pretty much nonstop for the past couple months and have been struggling picking a pool out

Standard in-ground vinyl pools are not designed to be exposed on any sides. There are pools that can be partially buried. The ones I’ve seen referenced here are Doughboy and Radiant. If you search those terms, you will come up with many threads discussing partially buried pools.

You would need a retaining wall on one of the sides to either dig into the slope or fall from the slope. If your yard is big enough you could use the dug dirt to make a platform and just slope the grade away gradually. That's a big pool and ALOT of work for a DIY build.
