Trying to get the hang of it.

So our pool has been up and running now for 3 weeks. We were not taught anything on how to maintain the Chemistry. Our builder does answer any question we throw at him pretty much immediately. Just wish we had more of a class on it. I have tried to treat each item individually instead of trying to fix everything at once. Not sure that is proper or not ?‍♂️. I have not done anything with CYA yet. I wanted to wait until we turned on the SWG before adding a stabilizer. So we just turned our SWG system on this morning to 70%. Here are my test results from this morning with a link to my logs as well. Do you see anything I need to address besides my CYA? I did add to much TA up and it seems to be dropping about 10ppm a day so I was thinking of just letting it settle in from here.

Free Chlorine: 2.0
Combined Chlorine: 0.0
pH: 7.6
Total Alkalinity: 110
Calcium Hardness: 350
CYA: 0
Salt: 3500
Temperature: 84°F
CSI: 0.09

I'm not a plaster pool guy so I can't help you there. You need to get CYA in there asap. The sun will be killing the LC as fast as your SWG can manufacture it. That a recipe for an algae outbreak.

I will be picking some up on my way home from work. My PB turned on the SWG this morning after had left for work so we still have chlorine tabs in the skimmers. I will replace them with CYA in socks.

Yes, bring your CYA up to 30-40. Normally higher (say around 70) but at this late date in your swim season 30-40 makes more sense.

Your FC should be up around 4-6 ppm and then adjust your SWG to hold it there for the rest of the time the pool is open. I would suggest you bring it up to that 4-6 ppm level with bleach or liquid chlorine. It will be easier to tune in your SWG if you do that.

I assume your water is clear.....everything else looks good.

I also would suggest you remove the tabs.......there is no need now.
