To begin with, I freaking love this TF-Pro Salt kit!!! I feel like I have a decent handle on how to test CYA but then I have doubts. Do you drop in the pool water/R-0013 mix slowly until the black dot fades or until it’s absolutely not visible anymore? I feel it’s the latter and I’m trying to just glance at it and not stare. I added enough CYA the other day (sock method) to get to 75 but today’s test showed 65 and I know my pool’s volume is accurate. Just need a little refining on actually seeing the right level in the CYA tube.

Wait another day, then retest...sometimes it takes a few days to fully register.

Correct.

You can calibrate your glance with a 50ppm CYA solution from tftestkits.net: R-7065 CYA Standard 50ppm (2oz)

Use the solution instead of pool water, and fill to the 50ppm line in your test tube. The way it looks is the way your pool water tests should look.

It's also helpful to see what the 50ppm solution looks like when you fill the tube to the 60ppm and 40ppm lines.

That’s what I did. I added it Friday and checked it again today.

Thanks Drew! I’ll go try that in a sec.

EDIT: I don’t think that’s in my Pro Salt kit so I guess I better order some ha! I was getting ready to test and thought “wait…I don’t have that”.
