Question-
10x30 1000g seasonal pool. Drain, clean & refill 8 days ago. All is well. Crystal clear.
Did not add stabilizer BECAUSE before finding TFP I bought bleach, chorinated shock, floater, pucks & pretended to know what I was doing. Now I have $30 in 1" pucks just hanging out. If I understand correctly my problem arose last fill from shocking and using Trichlor and created myself a high CYA dilemma and essentially couldn't get my chlorine high enough & then algae set in. I've read through the temp & seasonal pools guide now as well. So, question is, if a 1" trichlor pucks weighs .5oz & I have used 7 so far, would I be correct in assuming that would result in 14ppm CYA? Because these test strips are junk (surprise
) and I only have the 3way cheap test kit for Cl and PH.
EDIT: I am currently testing morning and night and adding 10% liquid chlorine per pool math calculator. It is working fine but I'm concerned this heat and lack of stabilizer is going to result in algae. Most times testing I still have 1-2ppm for chlorine before adding more. So I have used 7 pucks so far and I see my chlorine is holding better.
