Tri Chlor or Bleach

I currently have a SWG that is showing error code 170. I am also in the process of completing a SLAM. While I am waiting to fix or repair my SWG, I was wondering which chlorination method I should use, bleach or tri chlor? I am not sure when I will get around to repairing the SWG and I have both bleach and tri chlor on hand. I have never used trichlor before, but I am tiring of hauling cases of bleach from Sam's. :):)

Thanks

Whether or not trichlor is right for you depends on test results.

Do you need to raise CYA? Are pH and TA high such that you need a lot of acid? Then trichlor might be right for you.

Be aware that every 10 FC you add with trichlor raises CYA by 6. If you lose 2 FC per day -- a modest number -- you will have added 14 FC and 8.4 CYA... maybe more since it's hard to control trichlor puck melt rates as the surface area is constantly shrinking. Let's say 10 per week CYA addition. It won't take long until CYA hits the limit and then you'll have to switch to bleach anyway, leaving you with 3/4 of a bucket of pucks.
