Travertine tile pavers Sealing & polymeric sand

Please advise...we are almost finished laying the travertine deck and will be using polymeric sand to fill in the holes & the grout cracks. Is it recommended to seal the tile before filling with the sand or is the sealer applied last or both???

My contractor has done a superb job so far with prepping the deck, waterproofing the area where the coping goes, thin-setting all the border tiles & the coping. One thing we disagree on is whether we seal before we brush in the Polymeric sand or after...what is the proper order?

try a small section and see, my contractor said not to bother with poly sand because it would just create puddles and to let the water drain through the tiles. i did sweep a lot of base sand in between them though to reduce wobbling.

I also thought that poly is not preferred for travertine due to the tight joint lines. Or maybe that is just a thing in Florida with high humidity and moisture?

After should be fine, you will need to seal down the road and the sand will be there then.
