Recently went on vacation, 5 days, and was surprised and how well my pool did on chemical balance. I have only owned this pool for three year, this being my third. My ph has never been so stable and my chlorine is also doing well. I did have to use pucks while I was out but have been maintaining liquid chlorine and MA only since the season opened. So I had some room in my cya for buffer.

My question is, my TA is registering at 40 which seems low but do I need to adjust if all other stuff is well?

What is a mineral setup?

What is the water temperature?

The mineral set up in not using, but the pool is set up to be one. It's basically a cartridge that adds minerals to a pool chemistry to lessen use of chlorine and make the water feel softer, at least that is what they say. I am trying this year without it to see if there is a difference in pool chemistry. Just using bleach and MA and stabilizer.

Temp is 80

I would raise it to 50 or 60 and let the pH get to about 7.6 to 7.8.

Thanks but would be the result if not raising it? Or why would I raise it if all other levels are good. Just curious on what the results would be.

And I'm guessing using baking soda would do it. Would I disperse with mixing in water first or just sprinkle around the pool.

I would say if it works don't change it. My TA is around 50 right now which is a little low but my pH is fairly stable so that's where I've left it all season. If your happy with the stability of the pH I don't see a reason to change it too much.
Baking soda dissolves fairly quickly usually just takes a little brushing to mix in

You have a plaster pool, so you need to keep the CSI in good range. It's too low now. Raising the TA will raise the pH as well (a little bit on addition and more over the next few days).

Just dump in the baking soda and brush.
