Hey pool experts!
Pool closing services by me seem to have standard pricing set as $450 for the pool & $150 for the spa. I've paid it in the past but the spa charge annoys me because it has no cover and there is not much to it except the one line to blow the air out of. So, I am interested in doing just that part myself as I do like the cover being put on by others but maybe this will make me comfortable to take it all on in the future. I pictured a blower & one that is $100 less on ali express if anyone has an opinion on it. Also I saw a video that it's possible to use a dry vac and I do have on of those already, does anyone use that successfully?
Finally if someone could clarify where I would shoot the air in. I assume I can undue the connection between the pump and valves then turn the spa open and turn on the air that way as anything closer seems to be glued together. Never done it is there any signed to look for or what to know on when you did it long enough?

Thanks!

Got a wide angle shot and multiple angles ?

There's plenty of spots to blow from, all personal preference.

I pull my pump and blow each direction. Others drill a spare pump lid and screw a fitting on it for the blower. Others blow the whole thing by shoving the hose into the the skimmer(s).

The cyclone is hands down the best option. It will also do in ground sprinkler systems. Your choice if you trust Ali express to deliver the correct product........ before you retire. :ROFLMAO:

With a simple system I had success with a large shop vac, but use my backpack leaf blower.

I found the guide you made really helpful thank you. I am leaning towards buying the cyclone for a few reasons. The shop vac I have is pretty basic & the leaf blower I have is electric, I just don't know that either will be strong enough to blow out like a 12 ft deep end. I was looking at just being able to cut my costs down but after getting down this rabbit hole I have time to keep learning & if I can do it all thats a $600 savings just this season, mise well put it towards the nice toy to do it haha.

They wanted $700 something to close mine when they installed the cover. They were installing the cover already with the install charge and I spit out my coffee at 'seven hun' to blow the lines and missed the rest of it.

As a seldom use pony, the cyclone will last a generation or two. (y) How many thousand will that pay you back ? Yeah. Lol.

If you have a mesh cover, even a heavy duty one like ours, it’s not a big deal to do the closing, provided you have a single pair of helping hands. The key is to detach springs from the cover when opening the pool. When closing, two people, one on each side of the cover, just slowly pull it walking along the coping. Without the weight of the springs the cover floats nicely on the surface and now a single person can start attaching the springs.
