Timers

For an above ground pool, is there an optimal 10-12 hours you should run your pump? I have a timer and I am thinking of setting it for 8:00am - 7:00pm every day. Would it be better to give it a break in between by setting it for two 5-6 hour intervals? Presumably, there is no reason to run the pump at night, but I guess that is an option too. I am looking for opinions on what has worked best for everyone here. Looking forward to hearing thoughts!

First question is why do you need to run it that long. You do not show a SWCG, so the only other reason is particulate load (dirt and dust) or skim time due to stuff being blown into the pool.
