My old pool was 15,000 gallons, rectangular with 3 long steps. I had an Polaris 3900 Sport I rebuilt many times and replaced it last year with a Quattro. The Quattro was sold with the old house.
I now live in the country and have a considerably larger pool (see pics). I have not calculated the size yet. There is an old 280 in this pool that no longer works. I’m reluctant to buy another Quattro. My last went to the shop 4 times in one year for warranty work.
I could buy a 280 rebuild kit for this old Polaris but it appears that the whole thing needs to be replaced and the hose is stiff as a board.
Being that I live in the country now and am miles from a pool store should I just get a new 280 for $480 (Amazon) or look at a different model?
Thanks for any help!!

Nice layout. Why don't you just go straight to a robot? Do you have a GFCI outlet nearby? Most robots come with 40ft electrical lines. Not sure I would invest in a new 280 when for a few hundred $$$ more I could get a good robot.

If you don’t want a robot cleaner or the Quattro Sport pressure cleaner I would get the Polaris 380. The 380 has 3 jets that power it rather then 2 the 280 had and has more power to move.

@HermanTX - I’m sure there is a GFCI. I can check today. I just know nothing about robots. I’ve always had the pressure side cleaners. At one point I was tempted to just buy a Hammerhead and pull it out when I need it.

the robots are in another class of performance and way less hassle. Just dumped my 380 in the middle of summer for a robot.

@HermanTX - what are the Trouble Free Pool Robot favorites? I need the least amount of maintenance as I’m in the country
Not sure there is a favorite but the basic robots are S200-Warrior SE-Active20. All different models but same basic unit. Going up from there you add features (like remote control & wireless) or items (like a caddy to store the unit when not in pool) but it is the same cleaning performance of the basic units.
Best to measure distance to your pool's farthest point from the position of GFCI and discuss with the rep that info so they can guide you on not only the proper cleaner but ensure it will cover your pool with the designated length of power cord.
See this chart attached and contact the dealer (Marina Pool & Spa) listed at the top. They offer good deals to TFP members.

Robots will clean better than a pressure-side or suction-side cleaner.

Call Margaret at Marina Pool & Spa in Lakewood CO and discuss your options with her. Many here have bought robots online from them.

Robots are great, but can tell you that Polaris has a real issue with quality on their robots. My 9550 Sport model needs repair in under 4 years. From what I hear, not uncommon. I took great care of it too. Repairs are expensive, almost price of a new robot. It is a real shame as it was a very good robot for cleaning and control. Just parts do not last and are very expensive. Maytronics seems to be the brand I see people posting more favorable reviews. Still waiting to see if 4-5 years is the standard lifespan for these guys.
