Tiling inside of pool with mosaic glass

I have a customer that would like to use 1"x1" sheeted square mosaic glass tile (1'x1' sheets) for the whole interior of the pool. It seems like a real PIA since we normally only tile the waterline and spillways. It looks to have an existing diamond brite surface thats in good condition. Any advice on setting materials would be appreciated. If anyone has an idea on the going rate for labor it would also be appreciated. I told them $10/SF for install (approx 2000SF) and they thought I was crazy. I would rather not touch this, but I don't want them to bring in someone else.

 Welcome to TFP!!!

We have seen a few pools like this, but usually in other countries where they must not have the plaster companies.

No idea on what a cost would be, but it is not an insignificant amount of work and I think it can get a little complicated if you are dealing with curved surfaces ... how do you use 1x1' sheets when having to go around curves and not have obvious departures in the pattern?

And don't forget about having to grout the entire pool.

Personally, if you have never done it, I would bow out of the job. Because I can just imagine them complaining about imperfections in the patterns.

my suggestion would be to allow them to go get quotes elsewhere and let them know the challenges of the job...much easier to explain when you have a 12x12 1" square sheet and place it near a corner. I am not a tile expert by any means but I've tiled my own beach properties and going into a 3D radii would be a massive PITA and you'll have to lay each tile individually (custom cutting each). Your bid is beyond fair.

At $10 a square foot you're both crazy. You for offering and them for not accepting immediately . . .

Run, don't walk, away from this opportunity. Read some of the horror stories of people on the site that just wanted glass tiles on their waterline. This isn't a learn-as-you-go job.

Thanks for the great responses, I signed up the project without the tile included. I was hesitant at first, but after your responses, I don't want to touch it. Hopefully the owner can find someone to do it, or even better go with a conventional pool surfacing product.
