Third-party cells

I have an Aquarite 900, with software rev 1.59 and the cell needs to be replaced. It currently has a TCell940. Looking at Amazon, the third-party parts are about a third of the price compared to Hayward original parts.

How well do the third-party cells work? How does their longevity compare to OEM cells?

The newest models might have an ID tag that identifies a Hayward cell from a generic.

A generic might not be recognized.

Remove the cap with the serial number and show the wires.

What is the Serial Number (First 7 characters)?

When was it installed?

Your system is from 2018.

Hayward has added chips to their latest cells to identify genuine Hayward cells.

The yellow and orange wires go to a chip for that purpose.

If your wires are only red and blue to the sensor, then it probably does not read the chip.

Holding the plug vertically with the cord going down and looking at the connection points. 1 is top left, 2 is top right, 3 is second down left, and so on with 9 being lower left and 10 being lower right.[54]

I can answer any questions you might have. Just message met thru this platform. And continue to ask TFP members for advice. Don't rely on the pool store. Their advice is to buy chemicals or salt cells even if you don't need to.
