Thinking about getting a new Pentair pump

I think it is prudent to put in a manual switch between your pump and subpanel if you do not have automation or time clock to manually turn power on or off to a pump. No one should put wet hands into a subpanel to throw a circuit breaker. You have to think about the emergency issue - water is spraying due to leaking pipe or whatever and you need to shut down the pump ASAP. A switch is much easier, safer and quicker.

I have an intelliconnect. I could wire it through those relays also. Id have the intelliconnect and breaker that way.

I wasnt sure if it needed a disconnect like an AC. I can physically unplug the 120 pump of needed but didnt know if 220 needed to be that way also.

Are you guys hardwiring the 220v pumps straight to the breaker or are you adding a manual disconnect inline?

Mine goes to an outlet so I can easily unplug it to bring it inside for winter. Pool equipment is designed to withstand the elements. I fully understand that and agree.

But I'd never leave $2k worth of anything sitting in a snow drift for up to a month, possibly a few times each year. 1000 times 'no stinking way' for anything with electronics.

So the plug is nice, but also relevant for this discussion.

I would go so far as to make sure the area will remain unoccupied and (run) to turn the house breaker off if the area was wet.

Yea. Id just kill the feed.

When the time comes, ill do a 220 receptacle to bring the pump inside. Our winters wreck stuff.
