They just finished my pool, I went in and see this...

Is this how my skimmer area should look? There is cardboard all around it and quite a gap on the right side....does it need sealing? Is this normal?

That is not normal at all. It looks like a great spot for insects to hide. It will also be a great spot for algae to grow. The skimmer is set way too low. When your water level gets high from rain the skimmer will not function at all. Tell your pool builder you want it corrected.

hmm looks like shootcrete or maybe they filled this area after the shell? They could have at least put tiles there.

Thanks. Our pool was just finished last Monday and we didn’t notice it until we got in the water! My pool builder says they are going to fix it.
