Thermometer for monitoring closed pool?

This my first season with my AGP, and I’m already starting to think about what I’ll need when it comes time to close. I need a winter cover. That should be easy enough to find. But I understand that you’re supposed to open the pool in the Spring before the water temperature reaches 60 F. So how do you monitor the temperature in a closed pool that has a winter cover without taking the cover off?
