does anyone know why the CYA to Chlorine levels are different on the website vs the app. an example is the website has a SLAM CYA 30 with FC Level of 12

however the app has CYA of 30 and a FC range of 2-6, when 12 is enterd a message comes up saying the that FC level is too high. does any one know which one is correct?

Slam is not considered a normal target, so the app wants to make sure you mean to be choosing Slam.

With the proper care going forward, you'll never need to Slam again. An ounce of prevention whoops a pound of cure and whatnot. :)

You need to turn on the SLAM slider to get the SLAM FC recommendations.

Thys says your SLAM target FC is 12. Same as the website...

I manually entered the slam number of 12 but I get the warning that it outside the target range of 2-7, If I enter six ( with in the apps range then it's happy) as per the new atttachment

Is your current FC 30?

It is telling you that with a FC of 30 you are outside the target ranges.

The SLAM target is outside the recommended ranges. Ignore that message.

The way the app is set up is you set your CYA level, your current FC level and Target FC level. the app will then give you a let you know what range you need to aim for with you FC. my issue is that the app and the website are giving different numbers by about 78% different. no my FC is not 30, I just put that in there as an example number If your put current FC as zero the target range still stays the same

so that should be the same between the site and the app
But people might click SLAM by accident in Poolmath and dose without realizing it. People don't stop to think as often as they should and just follow PoolMath blindly, because it's done so well by them in the past.

The issue is that the chart on the website is saying that FC should be 12 when CYA is 30 but the app is saying that FC should be 6 when the CYA is 30 ( with the slider turn on)

Yeah, should not be different.

Try this.
  1. Home screen.
  2. Click the FC button.
  3. CYA should say 30 (if 30 is the last test you did...if not change it to 30 for this exercise).
  4. CURRENT box should have your last FC test and TARGET FREE should be 3.
  5. Click the SLAM slider. TARGET FREE should change to SLAM and the value change to 12.
If you do these steps, and the SLAM box does not change to 12, describe exactly what happens that is different.

Thanks for this reply, I see the issue I was having. I was entering my own SLAM target and was thinking the recommend range at the top would be what would tell me they SLAM reccomend levels. I was also being thown off by the warning saying that the target is outside the recommend range. I see now that the reccomended range warning just stands for normal FC conditions and not for the SLAM
