The Little Polaris That Could

Recently I installed a fine silt & sand bag. The Polaris worked fine for a few weeks. Now the bag inflates causing the Polaris to float. When I poke the bag it collapses and the polaris sinks doing it’s thing. It doesn’t take long for it to float up again - like 10 minutes! The bag isn’t full. I changed to the fines bag because of the accelerated delamination that will be dealt with Soon.

The standard bags are in bad shape - ripped. I haven’t gotten around to “darning” them.

Any ideas?

You likely have a small suction air leak that is putting air into your booster line and inflating the bag.

Check the pickoff line from the hard PVC to the booster pump.

The polaris runs off the main pump. No booster. But I do probably have air in the system. Maybe the fines have clogged the fabric to where the air can’t escape as it did when the bag was new. Oy!
