Water finally got up to 82 degrees and the kids are enjoying the pool today.

They think the water is amazing. I must say, I would have to agree!

Beautiful pool!! I'm glad you have found our information helpful There is no easy way to say this, but please consider making a donation to TFP.

Wow, I guess central Indiana is a chilly place if you're just getting to swimming now?!? Maybe time to consider solar heating or a small heat pump....

Enjoy the pool. Hopefully it stays warm enough to swim in....

I have had a blanket on it for the last 2 weeks. The weather has been crazy here. I got to 80 degrees twice only to have rain and hail (4-5" each time) drop it 6 to 10 degrees in one day... It has been a struggle. I am trying to rebuild an old dome solar heater (the black pipe got brittle and busted). The local Lowes and Menards don't have what I need. I am hoping the local plumbing supply place has it, but they aren't open until Monday.

We also only have direct sunlight about half the day.

That is too bad. One other thing you can try but it might look a little klunky is to put a layer of insulation around the outside of the pool. Unfortunately soft-side Intex-style pools rapidly lose heat from their sides as well as from evaporative cooling on top. Even a slow breeze provides enough air current to pull heat away from the side walls.

Good luck repairing that dome heater. Perhaps you could find some used Heliocol panels on eBay or Craig's List and try to setup a nearby, ground based solar heater??

Yup, worth every penny and then some. I got my kit refills and a SpeedStir for my 2 weeks of summer up here lol! My wife thinks, KNOWS I'm nuts when it comes to the ease and fact that I know what is in my pool water. I will NOT let my son go to our public pool (which by the way is fairly new and a couple blocks away) I came home from work the other day and thought my pool was empty...couldn't see the water, I love it. I work with a couple folks that have yet to get in their pool because they can't get the water clear and safe or they use 'em for a day or 2 things get cloudy again. They drive 150ish miles round trip to a pool store and avoid me because I keep telling them about taking control of their pools...oh well.

Your pool looks great and the kids are having a blast. That's what it's all about.
