Long story short, bought a house in December and struggled to get the chemistry even in the ballpark using traditional methods. Found TFP, got a real test kit and haven't looked back.
The real test came last week when our pump failed and the pool had zero circulation for a week. The water stayed crystal clear (albiet under a thin layer of stuff on the surface) and the only nod I gave to the SWG being offline was to throw three tabs in my old floater that I dug out of the garage - I figured I'd just have to shock it after the new pump was installed. I was incredibly surprised that the FC level only dropped from 7 to 5 over the course of the week. I installed the pump, started it up, tested the water and found my numbers to be pretty much exactly where they were the previous week except for salt and CYA drops which I suspect to be due to a leak somewhere.
It's just amazing to me to go from having to have nine pucks spread between the skimmers and a floater to barely hold an FC of 3 (which would drop back to zero in a heartbeat) and PH that would skyrocket daily to this stable of a water chemistry. TFP works!
The only problem is that the water's so clear that every problem we have with the plaster looks horrible...
