We were gone for 10 days during our recent evacuation. (Turned it into a mini vacay). Luckily no big damage but I had turned off all my outdoor plugs before leaving, so no pump running the whole time. I was a little low on my CYA pre evacuation because of all the summer rains, so I felt safe filling up a floater with pucks before we left. Still thought I might have to do my first ever SLAM when we returned but no algae except a little on the ladder, although LOTS of debris including the neighbors shingles in the pool. The day after returning I had my husband on the large debris removal and I added a couple quarts of Liquid chlorine, and turned on the filter. Then I noticed I had to replace the bag on the Polaris because it got a big hole in it, so couldn't vacuum the remaining smaller debris until today when the bag was delivered. I added more chlorine today and will run the vacuum tonight. I actually haven't tested yet but will do so tomorrow when the rest of the debris is removed and I have a few extra minutes. The amazing thing is I can just look at my pool and see what its basic needs are because of this website and my close monitoring of my pool this spring and summer. I know I need to test, but just been super busy with yard and house cleanup.

My hot tub on the other hand is a mess! I removed the lid pre evacuation (worried about the wind), drained it and kept the drain open to drain the rain out. I have to clean out all the debris and gross left-over rain water and fill it back up. Because of this site, it was PERFECT before the storm. Oh well, it will be perfect again when I have some time to work on it!

You peeps are AWESOME!

I love this! It's not even necessarily about testing...it's when you can look at and know what your pool needs-that is when it is TFP!
