I am super happy to have found and joined TFP. We recently purchased a new home with a beautiful pool. I have been around polls all my life and have either paid pool companies to care for them or I have taken care of them but to be honest half hazardly. With this beautiful pool I wanted to do it correctly so please consider me a complete newbie.

Our I ground pool is a non-sw pool, around 23k according to the previous owner but I want to verify this unfortunately the shape is irregular and it has quite a few different depths and ledges. I am hoping to get a more accurate number soon. The surface is pebbletec and is in good condition.
Unfortunately our pool had CYA levels around 250 and verified multiple times by different pool stores. After doing lots of research and finding TFP I bit the bullet and drained the pool this weekend (I had a limited window to get this done before sumer). I did a chlorine wash using a 5:1 ratio followed by power washing. I soaked the filter cartridges on TSP and then cleaned them and they are in good shape.

I plan to start filling the pool tomorrow and will try to figure out how to measure the pools water volume while filling it.
I purchased the Taylor K-2006 but not the "C" version and I am hoping I did not make a mistake.

I have also read through both the pool school and understanding chemistry. I think I have the names titled incorrectly.

Any suggestions for how to properly refill a pool and or next steps will be greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to add my pool info to my name but not sure how.

Hope this want too long of a first greeting and thank you in advance for any and all support.

That is a good test kit. It should hold you for a little while. Have you tested your fill water yet?

Signature-click on your user name at the top, right. You will see signature pop up. Click on it and fill in what you know so far.

Thanks for the welcomes. I just started to fill the pool at 9am at a rate of 32gal per 4min 20sec. With this I should get a very accurate idea of the pool volume.

I have not yet tested the water but will shortly.

I will also start updating info on my signature.
