I’m new to TFP and I’d like to thank everyone on these forums. The information and feedback is tremendous. I don’t normally participate in social media or forums but had to here. This is our third summer with a pool, 2nd full summer (We bought a house with a pool in NJ in August of 2022 and closed it for the winter shortly after).
I was that guy in Leslie’s last year trying to figure out what the heck I was doing. I’d get a test, pretend I knew what they were talking about and add the chemicals the print out said. It worked ok, but we had a baby and I’d rather spend my free time playing with my kid than taking pool samples to a store.
I made it my business to get a better handle on the pool this year and learned a lot in the last year. I stumbled into TFP through Reddit and it changed everything. I was afraid of the Taylor test kit, but after only a few tests I could then do it with my eyes closed and I test fc, cc, and ph every night and adjust as needed. What a world of difference testing every night and making minor adjustments rather than going a week in between and dumping a cocktail of chemicals into the pool hoping the guy at Leslie’s was right.
This forum helped me to better understand how and why the pool and chemicals all work rather than just spitting out what to do and one day it clicked and it all makes sense to me now.
I’m at work and my wife texted me the cutest picture of our baby girl in our crystal clear pool having the time of her life and I just had to post here. So thank you to this forum and its members for giving me the tools to do it better than a pool service and for giving me quality time with my family.

P.S.
I bought the poolrx right after opening and have been waiting for my next backwash to put it in. Thanks to this forum I’ll be tossing it into the garbage tonight. $100 down the drain, but I’ve spent more on less. So thanks again for that.
