South Texas is currently experiencing temps close to zero, so many people are asking what they should do. In most cases, simply keeping the water moving is all you need to do to avoid freezing lines or equipment. Temps have to be well below freezing for quite a while before freezing pipes becomes a concern. But if you are still worried and chose to err on the side of caution, especially if there should be a power outage, you can wrap your exposed pipes with some insulation barrier material like the product seen in the pics below that I purchased from Home Depot for about $10. You can also drop a tarp over your equipment pad just as additional insurance to keep sleet or ice from making direct contact with your equipment. Look around for any areas where water can puddle (i.e. waterfalls) as freezing water can expand and cause problems, so try to remove as much standing water as possible. Maybe cover those areas as well if possible. Finally, if power does go out for a considerable amount and freezing becomes an issue, be sure to drain your pump basket and filter so they don't crack from expansion. Good luck!
