Testing and Balancing My Pool Water/1st Time HELP

Ok, so I was thinking you meant the whole pool was 6.5 feet deep. Sorry about that. 2lbs of CYA might bring it up to 50ppm, but that's fine. You should now be targeting 6ppm FC when you add bleach. In 3-4 days, test your CYA to see where it's at and possibly add more if you have undershot it.

Depending on amount of sunlight, intensity of sunlight, and sure temperature, you'll probably have to add bleach every 1-2 days, but considering it was up to like 55F there, you might be able to wait longer between bleach doses. Just test your FC and CC each day. If the FC has fallen to 4ppm, then raise it up to 6ppm again. If it's above 4ppm, then just wait and test the next day.

CYA is one of the chemicals that doesn't really evaporate or break down, just gets splashed out of drained out, so test it once a month. You'll likely only need to touch it once a month.

Did you test your CH to make sure it's not outrageously high?

With FC currently at 4, add another 38 oz of bleach.

Yeah... I'm pretty sure... I just pulled up the dimensions of the pool and the contract I signed. I also verified with the supplier via text and he indicated it was 15000 gallons. 16x32 IG Pool. The deep end is only 6.5ft...the shallow is 3.5ft if not more shallow. Thus, I used PoolMath to figure and your suggestions to figure out the calculation for a 15000 gallon pool.


P.S. So now that I've done this Bleach and Stabilizer, how often do I do this task...every month? or when needed....just keep testing I guess.
