Waiting on TF100 kit to arrive and went to Leslies to have the water tested. Any recommendations so I can get a head start on this? Added 1 gallon of instant conditioner after this test.

Very good. Yes, just keep the SWG as-is. Better to have the FC healthy at 3 - 6 ppm than to get low and develop algae.

Don’t add a thing except 5ppm of chlorine a day until the kit arrives. That test is just unreliable and anything you do based off of it will have to be undone.

Several things, like CYA, calcium and salt can only be undone by draining, and usually a bunch.

That is adding 1.9ppm FC to the water each day. For this time of year, that is on the low side. So be very careful of your FC dropping too low. Without a test kit, I would err on the high side for FC.

Also, it appears I’m having DE media returning to the pool. Yesterday I cleaned out the filter cartridges, checked all the connectors, and the rubber gasket on the filter for damage and found nothing. Ran the pump overnight without reintroducing new DE and this is how it looks this morning.

Was it spitting out DE before you did the maintenance?

yes, I can see the tiny particles from the returns and floating around.

If it wasn't doing this before your maintenance, there must be something off a bit. However also consider how much you charged to ensure it's not just from over-charging DE.
