Tesk Kit - South Africa

Hi,

Knowing about the importance of testing my own water, the research done so far on getting TFTTestKits or
Taylor Service Complete Pool Water Test Kit K-2006C does not ship to South Africa.

I'm left with one or two local brands of water test kits including the HTH 4-in-1 Test Kit that can do FC, Ph, Total Alkalinity and Acid Demand.

The local pool shop can test results correspond with my own home test results on Ph, FC, Total Alkalinity. The pool shop uses a test strip scanning machine for industrial use.
The pool shop can test CH, TC, FC, CYA.

How will I be able to test during SLAM? Friends and family who are also pool owners use the same test kit(HTH) and adjust to maintain FC level between 1 and 3, PH between 7.2-7.6 and Alkalinity at about 100ppm.

Is there anyone that can suggest a supplier that would ship to South Africa that can provide the FAS-DPD test? I'll need to rely on my current test kit with the results from the pool shop for now.

You might trying searching Amazon and/or E-Bay for the "Taylor K-2006C" test kit. Others have had success getting it from either of those sources at a decent cost and shipped just about anywhere. Also consider sending an e-mail to Rebecca at TFTestkits (see TF-100 link below). She may have some other words of wisdom for you. :)

Contacted Rebecca and unfortunately TFT can't be shipped to South Africa.

Amazon orders also does not ship to Johannesburg South Africa.

So after receiving my results form the local water lab, I asked them how I can obtain a CYA test kit and they said they are struggling to get it from oversees.

The only test strip kits I can source for a hefty price is the Aquacheck Silver 7way. I don't if someone can comment on the accuracy of testing CYA levels. The test strip can also only check up to 10ppm of Free Chlorine.

They local water lab said the most reliable option but by far the most expensive is to send water samples to our national laboratory at CSIR.

Feels like getting my own reagent test kit for CYA won't be something in reach until a supplier is willing to import it.

Test strips are not worth getting.

No shipment from Australia either?

Do you know anyone going to the US or Australia in the near future? You could arrange for them to transport one back.

Good luck - sounds like it is not very friendly to own a pool in your country.
