Taylor K-2009

Hey Riotic and Welcome !!!

It doesn't test TA or CH. Here's the breakdown of the 4 kits we do reccomend in the thread linked below. The TF100 for example is cheaper than the K2009 and has 2.7X the supplies, along with TA and CH capabilities. It's a no brainer. The TFpro is a no brainer at the K2006*C* price point.

Thank you for such a quick response! I know there are no shortcuts, but I'm also dealing with a 12 ft Intex above ground pool, so am trying to keep things as inexpensive as possible. Suggestions on a budget kit?

You can piece meal a K1515 (fas/dpd FC kit), a CYA kit and then get a cheapo HTH drop kit for PH, TA and CH.

But that'll cost as much as the TF100, maybe a few bucks more, and then you need a case for them all or have 3 sets of supplies to store.

The best price I see for the incomplete k2009 is $65 (most places are $106) and it'll be well over the $83 TF100 by the time you complete it if you get the $65 deal.

Hands down, TF100 for the win from tftestkits.net.

How many gallons?

How about treating as a temp seasonal pool?

Otherwise, as @Newdude said, the TF-100 is a good value.

If it was my pool, I would purchase an HTH test kit and keep CYA in the low range so you can test with a regular OTO (color match) chlorine test.

If you're practicing to manage a bigger pool, then go with the TF-100.

With only a couple weeks left in a short season, it would be understandable to limp along this year and hit the ground running next year.

Worth noting : the test kit is 50% setting you up with parts like the PH block, vials and the CYA tube. Refills go on sale each spring in the $40s and are beyond reasonable. It'll probably get away from you with the $20 kits and you'll spend more than the extra $20 each time it goes south. So set yourself up once with the TF100, then it's cheaper in the long run on years 2+

Your choice if you want to bite that bullet now or in the spring. :)
