I am trying to build some water cannon/blasters to put on top of my pool house/pool deck for the kids to play with and have water fights. My thought was that I could tap into the 2" PVC outlet pipe right after the water goes through the filter. My plan is to use a 2" tee immediately followed with a 2" ball valve. After the ball valve I would put a 2" x 3/4" reducer and then send the water through approximately 45 feet of 3/4" PVC which would then feed the water cannons. With the pool pump running, I would simply open the 2" valve which would then "steal" some of the outlet water to feed the water cannons. The water cannons are directly above the pool, so most of the water should go back into the pool. I've attached a diagram to show what my plan is.

My question for this post is to ask if putting a 2" tee immediately followed with a 2" ball valve is going to cause issues to the filtration system. Is that little tee going to cause major issues? Obviously the 2" ball valve will be closed 99% of the time, so the effects of the filtration system when opening the valve don't concern me much.

My next question is about opening the 2" ball valve. How powerful will the stream be coming out of these cannons? I have a variable speed pump and can control this, but if for some instance someone turns it to full speed (3450 RPM), will this water cannon become dangerous? I have yet to determine how big the outlet hole in the cannon will be, but I would assume I'd just drill a 1/4" to 1/2" hole or so at the end of the cannon.

The other solution is to simply feed the 3/4" PVC with a garden hose since I have one fairly close, but then I have to pull the hose over there and hook it up every time I want to use it. It's not ideal but could easily work.
