Our water is really hard and the TA was super high. I have been keeping everything in check (TFtest kit and pool math subscription). Been adding acid and letting ph come back up. Is it just a slow process getting TA down?
Let it ride. If pH needs adjusting, do it. But don;t make any special efforts to lower TA.
A tip: if you go to PoolMath and enter things to lower pH, it will give you a dose. Way down at the ottom, Effects of Adding Chemicals will tell you what that dose will do. Ignore the pH change--- it's only going to match up above in very narrow circumstances. But the TA reduction will be right. You're to the point now where pH adjustments may not affect TA enough to register on the test. But it will be dropping.
