TA - am I doing this right?

I have the TF100 test kit - I just did a TA test and got it up to 23 drops before I just stopped. I see the solution flashing red when I drop each drop in, but it doesn't stay red. Am I doing this wrong, or is my TA insanely high?

Sounds like the test is working correctly. It tends to flash red as you go but you keep going until it stays red and further drops do not change the color of the test.

Is this a fresh fill?

It's a brand new pool - just finished in January. I basically added some muriatic and CYA and then just left it alone for two months. I'm finally working on the chemistry

Drew, our tap/fill water is well over 300 TA (north Houston area) so it's entirely possible where you are that the TA is insanely high.

My city tap water os around 260 to 270.
Like already said keep going till it remains red
