My Racer is giving me problems so I’m going to bite the bullet and buy a Robot. Do I need to plug off the port where the Racer is anchored in the pool?? Or just disconnect it and go about my business?

Just disconnect your Racer and let return water circulate through the booster pump and out the port as another return.
Which robot did you end up getting? My Polaris Quattro is showing signs of death and I'm probably going the robot route soon.
Dolphin Active 30. Love it. Been working fantastic. No issues. It’s the WiFi version. Got it from Marina and was a fantastic deal. Much cheaper than anywhere else.
