Hi all, having a low FC issue again. I’ve jacked up SWG to 80% for 16 hrs per day for last few days but still 2.2 FC (tested in evening). All other numbers are in range. I’m expecting my FC to be higher. Water temp is 87, outside temp has been low to mid 90s. I went to PAP to have them test as well. They say that something must be eating chlorine- but the pool is clear. The pool was built earlier this year and opened just a few months ago. What should investigate?

In florida, in June, a CYA of 60, you would likely see a drop in output. You showed CYA higher a couple weeks ago. CYA degrades in UV and warm water.

Do an OCLT tonight to confirm you don't have algae. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test

If you fail, then SLAM. Link-->SLAM Process

After slam, or if you pass OCLT, then raise your CYA no higher than 80. Raise your FC with liquid chlorine and maintain with SWCG. Always keep it in range for your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels

Can you have algae so soon in a new build? Can there be algae with a clear pool? Thanks!

I am having a similar issue in Florida. My SWG was not keeping the chlorine level up. The SWG was replaced (under warranty!!) and the new one could not keep up either, at 100% output for several days and nights. All lights were green and bubbles coming out of the return jets, so I now it was working. I did two treatments for phosphates without success. My trusted pool store guy suggested it could not meet the demand and dump 4 gallons of chlorine in there to get the level up. The chorine level has been extremely high for 5 days now, and somewhat level. I dialed back the SWG to see if it slowly lowers the FC level.

Maybe try to manually get the FC up with liquid chlorine.
