SWG run time?

I just converted my pool to salt last month and I am still getting a handle on operating the system. My pool is only 11500 gal and I have the Circupool RJ30 Plus system, so I have plenty of capacity. I have a VS pool pump, so I have the SWG hooked up to a separate timer and I can run it however I want. Since the run time is really only 1/2 the on time, 2 hrs on then 2 hrs off. I currently have mine set at 35%, running for 12 hrs and this seems to be doing fine for keeping the CL levels correct. My question is, does the long run time create higher PH increases? Would I be better of running it at higher % for less time, like 70% for 6 hrs, or is the amount of PH increase the same for a given amount of CL production?

The rise in pH due to the SWG shouldn't change. The SWG cycles on and off like a microwave and only causes pH rise when it is actually on, so running a SWG at 100% for 2 hours, 50% for 4 hours, or 10% for 20 hours is all the same. If you have any other aeration in the system that will continue to raise pH anytime the pump is running.

R,

I believe that the amount of aeration caused by the SWCG is based on the amount of chlorine the cell makes, not the length of time it takes to make it.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

I was told the same thing about run time and I reduced mine to 5 hours and upped the %, so far I can confirm my PH still requires about the same 20 oz a week as my longer run time. Next upgrade = automatic acid pump ;)
