SWG reading COLD

SWG had been reading 4000 salt level even when I tested the chlorine and it was low. I tested the Chlorine level this morning and it was at 1, so I went to see what SWG showed and the screen showed COLD.

Any idea what's going and how to fix or do I need to replace the SWG?

I don't know the answer to any of those.

1) How do I find the diagnostic readings?
2) Not sure, but I'll go look and see what I can find
3) It was here when we moved in 3 years ago
 
Press the little black button and record all of the readings.

Inside the front door is the model number and serial number of the box.

The cell should also have a model number and serial number.
 
I did add one 128oz 6% jug of bleach about 45 minutes ago. COLD is now gone.

Your box is Hayward Aquarite from 2003. The cell is a generic replacement.

Mineral Springs is the same as Aquarite.

The temperature sensor is failing and causing the incorrect temperature reading, which also causes the salinity reading to be incorrect.

Check the cell for scale and clean if necessary.

I suspect that you probably need a new cell. Is there any serial number on the cell at all?

I'm not sure what cell originally came with the system. I might be able to tell by looking at the main circuit board.

If you feel like the cell is good and only the temperature sensor is bad, there is a way to install a temperature sensor externally but it's an at-your-own-risk hack.
 
I just cleaned the cell a couple weeks ago.

I can't see anything from the outside and don't remember any label on the inside.

Is it worth replacing the box to something newer? Are newer ones better?

To check the circuit board, I need to remove it from the box?

I don't think the cell is that old maybe 5 years? The neighbor says the previous owner replaced it recently. I don't know how long they last
 
The temperature reading is in Fahrenheit. That's why it's reading COLD.

You probably need a new cell. They only last about 5 years.

To check the main board, remove the display board and take a picture of the main board. The main board is also a generic replacement.


I think that a Hayward T-15 cell will work with the generic circuit board but I'm not 100% sure.

I think that you probably just need a new cell. I would get a Hayward T-15. It should work for you. You might need to replace the circuit board GLX-PCB-RITE, but I would try the cell first.
