SWG not working...in the meantime....

Hi all,
Brand new pool has been up about 10 days.
We added the recommended amount of salt. SWG keeps saying salt level too high, and won't run.
I have ordered some salt testing strips.
In the meantime, should we get chlorine? Or wait to get SWG going? (obv, kids want to swim. )

FC - Free Chlorine- none. Water does not turn pink
TA- 240

Yes get chlorine. You should get the Taylor k-1766 salt test kit. Strips are not dependable.

Ordered the test kit that was recommended.

Added 60 oz of bleach- percentage wasn't on the bottle, but very low according to a google search.
Getting very faint yellow reading on the "daily chlorine test."
pH 7.8 on same test.
Water turned yellow after adding bleach. Was crystal clear.
(Forgot to mention in original post- water was clear, but walls were slimy.)
