I purchased a house with a pool a little over a year ago, and I am coming to the end of my first full season. Pool specs in my signature. I am currently starting some removations and upgrades. I have a PB replacing the liner and rebuilding the stairs.

I am currently planning a conversion to a SWG and adding Automation. My current plan is to install the Hayward AquaPlus that comes with the T-15 cell and a Hayward MaxFlo VS pump.

I am looking for any feedback or suggestions on my current plan ...

Any thoughts or feedback on the AquaPlus?

My pool equipment is about 4 feet above waterline. There is one skimmer, one drain and 4 return lines. Is there any concern about how to size a VS pump?

Is there any benefit to converting in the fall vs waiting for spring?

Any and all feedback much appreciated!

RV,

Welcome to TFP... A Great resource for all pool owners with conversion questions... :drown:

The key to automation is having the same brand of SWCG, VS Pump and Automation, so that the equipment can "talk" with each other... All the major brands are about the same, so it looks like you have done that part well...

Unlike single speed pumps, you really don't have to worry about sizing variable speed pumps.. This is because no mater how big they are, you just use the amount of HP you need. They really should be called variable HP pumps.

Not sure it matter when you do the upgrade, but keep in mind that salt systems do not work when the water temperature gets below about 55 to 60 degrees. I assume you will close your pool, so that might not make much of a difference to you.

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.
