This is my SWG. What are the details for cleaning it please and is it a DIY project for most? Installers charge 250 to clean it. I think I read somewhere it should be cleaned at least once a year? Pool is in its first summer now

Using muriatic acid should be a LAST RESORT cleaning method. It can reduce the amount of the rare earth metals that make chlorine, and shorten the life of the cell.

It only need to be inspected, maybe twice a year. If your CSI <= 0, you likely never have to inspect and clean it.

What is “ CSI <=0”?

Do you have pool math? If not, get it. Link-->PoolMath

When you get it all set up, turn on track temperature, turn on Track CSI. It will calculate it for you.

You should also login to pool math with same login for TFP. Then enable sharing with TFP...then we can see your chemical and test logs to help with any troubleshooting....

CSI is calcium saturation index. The ideal CSI for a salt pool is 0 to -.3. You can find information about it in Pool School. You don't need to do anything until the controller tells you to "Inspect Cell." Then you remove it and look for any calcification of the plates. If none is seen put it back together and reset the warning on your controller.
