The pump will prime in low speed, takes a little longer. I normally prime in High after I clean out the pump basket, and check the pressure, then switch to low. No problems.
I run my hayward salt sell at only 30% (T-Cell15 in 19k vinyl pool). This allows me to run pump for 8-12 hours on low and off the other time and still maintain a good chlorine level. Prior to dialing this in to find a balance, I was getting crazy high chlorine levels. Now my water is crystal clear, sanitized and not over running anything.
